Abstract

The rise of violent acts committed by students such as brawls, extortion, bullying, rape, and murder is an indication that aggressive behavior among teenage students today has led to a high level. Aggressive behavior itself is a tendency in the form of both verbal and nonverbal that aims to harm or injure others. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between conformity and aggressive behavior, and the relationship between emotional intelligence and aggressive behavior in adolescent students at SMK X. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The subjects were male students totaling 72 students with an age range of 16-18 years. The sampling technique used saturated sampling. The data collection technique used a scale. The data analysis used is product moment analysis. The aggressive behavior scale compiled by researchers based on the theory of Buss and Perry (1992) consists of 23 items (α = 0.925). The conformity scale compiled by researchers based on Baron and Bryne's (2004) theory consists of 17 items (α = 0.949). The emotional intelligence scale compiled by researchers based on Goleman's (2007) theory consists of 22 items (α = 0.962). The results showed that (1). There is a relationship between conformity and aggressive behavior with a correlation coefficient value of r = 0.720. (2). There is a relationship between emotional intelligence and aggressive behavior with a correlation coefficient value of r = 0.720. (2). There is a relationship between emotional intelligence and aggressive behavior with a correlation coefficient value of r = -0.648.
